On October 26-27, 2023, the 5th Biomedical Engineering Conference took place at the Pozna\u0144 University of Technology, co-organized by members of the Biomechanics Laboratory.<\/span><\/span> Exhaustive preparations of the Conference resulted in the creation of a unique event addressed to students of biomedical engineering, scientists in this field and representatives of industry.<\/span><\/span> Over 300 participants gathered and took part in lectures, discussion panels and workshops.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Dr. Eng.<\/span><\/span> Martyna Bia\u0142ecka and M.Sc. Eng.<\/span><\/span> Martyna Sopa prepared a workshop for participants entitled:<\/span><\/span> Identification of people based on gait: artificial intelligence or own observations?<\/span><\/span><\/em> during which they shared their knowledge of biomechanical research on gait patterns and the potential of using artificial intelligence for data analysis.<\/span><\/span> The effectiveness of machine learning and our own data observations were compared.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

There was also a Q&A workshop The world of science – what every student should know<\/em>, conducted by M.Sc. Eng.<\/span><\/span> Martyna Sopa together with M.Sc. Eng.<\/span><\/span> Justyna Rybarczyk.<\/span><\/span> Participants had the opportunity to see what the life of a scientist is like and ask interesting questions about building a career in science.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

In addition, the Conference included a sports and biomechanical attraction, prepared by the Biomechanics Laboratory, the Virtual Engineering Department of the Pozna\u0144 University of Technology and TKD Szakal Je\u017cyce Olympic Taekwondo Team.<\/span><\/span> During the performance, M.Sc. Eng.<\/span><\/span> Martyna Sopa presented the work they had done together, which aimed to show the capabilities of biomedical engineers working with athletes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

It is impossible not to mention the presentations made by members of the BTS Da Vinci Students’ Association<\/a> during the Student Activity Block.<\/span><\/span> Three teams presented their projects, which were assessed by the competition jury.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Our students took 2 places on the podium: 1st place – Iryna Kachura-Zhechytska with the project Assessment of the jump shot related to inter-limb asymmetries in female basketball players<\/em>, 2nd place and the Audience Award – Matylda Kry\u015b and Weronika Kandulska with the project Study on postural stability<\/em><\/span><\/span> and proprioception in a group of basketball players<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
