On Friday, May 9, 2025, a research session took place at the Laboratory of Biomechanics as part of an auction organized in support of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP).
The auction was conducted by the WOŚP Team at Poznan University of Technology, coordinated by the Student Union of the university. To the pleasant surprise of the Laboratory of Biomechanics team, the auction attracted significant interest. The winning bidder turned out to be a graduate of our university, who participated in the research session along with a guest.
Prior to the meeting, the team consulted with the guests to determine their expectations. Based on the information gathered, the team planned the research activities. Both parties aimed to use as many measurement tools as possible and to comprehensively examine the participants’ movement patterns, with particular attention to movement symmetry.
The following equipment and procedures were used in the study:
- BTS Smart motion capture system and AMTI force plates: classic gait analysis based on ground reaction force (GRF) measurements,
- FreeMed baropodometric mat: stability tests (Romberg’s and Fleck’s tests) and static pressure distribution analysis under the foot,
- kForce platforms: stability testing during a landing task and assessment of load symmetry during an isometric exercise,
- Noraxon system: muscle activity measurement during walking.
After completing the tests, the Laboratory of Biomechanics team thoroughly discussed the results with the auction participants. The entire meeting was conducted in a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The participants showed great determination and curiosity, while the Laboratory staff had the opportunity to share insights into their daily work and answer many interesting questions.
We hope that future auctions organized by Poznan University of Technology for WOŚP will enjoy even greater popularity, and that each offering will be carried out just as efficiently, reliably, and will exceed the expectations of the donors.
